Adi & Neel Building a New Startup
We’ve really enjoyed talking with fans about our time as PMs, & now we want to stay in touch and share updates of our new journey as founders as we build our latest startup, Refraction Labs!
“Authenticity consists in having a true and lucid consciousness of the situation, in assuming the responsibilities and risks that it involves, in accepting it in pride or humiliation, sometimes in horror and hate.” — Jean-Paul Sartre
Welcome!
You may know Neel and me (Adi) from our bestselling tech books: Swipe to Unlock, Bubble or Revolution, or Product Management’s Sacred Seven. Over the last 6 years, Neel and I have have worked together to write three bestselling books, build a top-10 Substack, and launch a Web2 talent business. But we couldn’t have done it alone — it takes a village, as they say. You all are our friends, earliest fans, and family who provided your support & feedback, and served as an inspiration as we were launching our businesses.
We’ve really enjoyed talking with fans about our journey’s as PMs, and now we want to use this newsletter to stay in touch and share monthly updates of our new journey as founders as we build our latest startup, Refraction Labs — a Web3 SaaS startup growing the GDP of Web3. In our newsletter, we will share practical advice and war stories on starting a company and reaching product-market fit, including:
“Sneak peek” product updates for our upcoming features
Advice on setting company culture, including screenshots of our internal Slack/text communication and team events
How we architect growth flywheels to generate user and revenue growth
Tips for navigating investor conversations and negotiating terms
Real quotes & screenshots of feedback from users
Our goal is to provide you a front-row seat into our expedition so that we can, as they say, build in public! Hopefully it can be helpful as a point of reference, as inspiration, or, simply as entertainment.
“Nobody is born knowing how to be a founder. It’s a learned skill and unfortunately you learn it on the job.” — Ben Horowitz, co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz
